About “52 novels. I counted them myself.”

Profession: Writer

location: Denver, Colo. USA

Like the "About" blurb on my site says, my name is Rob and I'm a writer living in Denver, Colo. I read a novel a week and tell lies. Terrible lies.. It might not sound like much to a lot of other serious readers. For me, it's huge. I'm a kinetic learner with a healthy visual component... that makes me a slow reader because I have to run what I'm reading as if it were a movie in my head while I'm reading it. Until I get that subconscious flickershow going I might as well be looking at gibberish. Eh, who knows? Maybe everyone is like that. For the time being, I'm a tech writer for a software firm in Denver. That means I write the help documentation--both online and printed. When someone asks what I do I say, "I write books nobody reads." I joke because it makes me feel better, although I've long since given up the notion that people are reading the magnificent words I produce at my day job. The plan over the next 18 months is to jettison the day job to write the stuff I want to write. Take a peek at my site... I've been posting reviews of the novels I've read along with thoughts about writing and writers, books and authors, and things that strike me odd or brilliant or puzzling or insert-your-own-adjective-here.

Favorite Authors
John Irving, Tom Robbins, Stephen King, Max Allan Collins, Michael Connelly, Greg Isles, Madison Smartt Bell, Stephen Ambrose, Lou Schuler, Anita Shreve (a new favorite), Ed McBain, Richard Adams, Bob Woodward

Favorite Topics
I'm not exactly sure what's being asked with this survey question. I have to figure I'm like most people: I like a lot of topics and determining a favorite has as much to do with the people in the discussion as it does the topic itself.
