MetaxuCafe Updates

Searching Member Sites
I’ve recently added a search function so that you can limit your Google search to just the blogs that are members of MetaxuCafe. I think that will be a good resource for everyone looking for literary topics online and you’ll find it right on the front page as well as other places on the site. Now if you want to read about, say Orhan Pamuk, but only want to search the litblogs you trust, you can narrow your search right here.

Count Down to the Advertised Guilt-Ridden

by Winter on February 11, 2008

Okay, call me cynical, but do you honestly get tired of the men in your life being told on TV, “if you really love her you’ll go into debt to make her happy on Valentine’s Day.”?

My idea of the perfect V-Day gift? A kid-free evening where we go nowhere and spend time together, no TV, no school work, no Internet, nothing to distract us from each other. Don’t get me wrong I love flowers and jewelry. But I’d rather it be a more significant reason for a gift that expensive. Flowers die, why not just buy the rose bush and enjoy it year round. Diamonds, I’ve got one, that’s all I need for now. My twenty-fifth anniversary is a great milestone to get another one, by then the kids will pretty much be out of the house.

Why should one day of the year be the time you show you love your spouse? God loves us all the time, through the pain and suffering, through the good and the bad, when we fail or excel. The same should be said for our marriages, so let’s keep it that way.

I plan to lavish my husband with love notes, which every writer is good at, and lots of special surprises. Course, I do this year round when the urge arises. I don’t leave it up to him alone to make my Valentine’s special.
