MetaxuCafe UpdatesSearching Member Sites
I’ve recently added a search function so that you can limit your Google search to just the blogs that are members of MetaxuCafe. I think that will be a good resource for everyone looking for literary topics online and you’ll find it right on the front page as well as other places on the site. Now if you want to read about, say Orhan Pamuk, but only want to search the litblogs you trust, you can narrow your search right here.
Metaxu readers might want to check out The View From Here, a new online literary magazine with an international staff. Launched by Mike French, a UK author, The View From Here is a place for writers and book lovers to come together to talk and learn, with discussion prompted by book reviews, author interviews, cartoons, inspiration for writers, and original short fiction. The staff includes writers from Australia, the UK, and the U.S. (Full disclosure: I contribute the short fiction).
I asked Bud Parr if he would mind me posting this on Metaxu, and, generous spirit that he is, he said of course—we’re all part of the same community. It’s that communal spirit that is driving Metaxu Cafe, The View From Here, and, I hope, a growing number of literary communities. Even as some litblogs fall by the wayside, the urge to come together remains integral to the Internet. And from this bloggy climate, we now have a global literary magazine.
As Ed Champion, the well-known U.S. litblogger, puts it, “There can never be enough conduits for long-form discussions and interviews with authors. The world needs more litblogs, more literary podcasts, and more literary teleprojects.”
Hope to meet you there soon.
