Actually, I prefer to call it a reading group project. The idea is to have discussions along the way, rather than saving up all you have to say for the end.
The Reading Middlemarch blog has been reading Middlemarch, but we’re pretty much done with it now and getting ready to move on to something else. Something big and old.
Reading will likely be spread out over July and August, with a loose schedule so we don’t spoil too much for the slower readers.
We expect to lose some contributors but will hopefully gain some fresh blood.
The shortlist:
War and Peace, Leo Tolstoy
The Brothers Karamazov, Fyodor Dostoevsky
Ulysses, James Joyce
The Red and the Black, Stendhal
Fathers and Sons, Ivan Turgenev
If any of these strike your fancy, if you’re interested in contributing to the discussion or quietly following along, make yourself known: http://readingmiddlemarch.blogspot.com/2006/05/book-next.html
