She was definitely no wimp.  Even to the end, even if she might be the tiniest bit wrong, she was tenacious!  I love Margaret Laurence’s writing, though, and I’ve already ordered three more of her books...I’ll have to wait before jumping into them, though, how do you get a character like Hagar Shipley ouf of your mind?!

I know there were times I cringed inwardly when Hagar was so abrupt to Doris or her son. I thought if only she was a bit nicer then maybe they could all get along a bit better. But I have to say when she was indifferent to Doctor Corby and less then nice to the minister, I kind of was glad.

It’s not that I applauded her rudeness but I thought they their treatment of Hagar was a bit condescending. I don’t know if anyone else thought that.

Danielle you’ll have to keep us posted on the other Laurence novels you got. I’m curious about her other books. I think I read somewhere that she set several novels in the same fictional town.
